Boomer Sooner

Boomer Sooner” - The name is a direct link to the frontier days of the Oklahoma Territory. A newspaper article in 1879 would change Oklahoma’s Future. The newspaper article described the land in Oklahoma Territory as a “Boomer’s Paradise.” Groups of would-be settlers, now referred to as Boomers, lobbied Congress to open these lands to settlement, but were rebuffed by both the government and the US Army. In 1889, President Benjamin Harrison signed a bill opening the Oklahoma Territory to settlement, which led to an enormous “land rush.” At noon on April 22, 1889, the pistols went off. But some just couldn’t wait for the cue, and crossed too soon -- hence, “Sooner”. The cry “Boomer Sooner” has been yelled across Oklahoma for over 100 years now. We blended this coffee in the spirit of “Boomer Sooner”. When you drink this coffee please close your eyes and feel the spirit and vigor of those brave pioneers who participated in the Oklahoma land rush of 1889. “Boomer Sooner”

GO Pokes

“Go Pokes” - When attended Oklahoma State University, OSU, I proudly yelled “Go Pokes” at every sporting event and whenever greeting a fellow Poke. Oklahoma is located in an essential geography where, in the accounts of its history, cattle herds were driven. Aside from Oklahoma’s unofficial alternative name The Sooner State, the state of Oklahoma has other acceptable names. The Boomer State, The Ok State, The Cowboy State, and Pokes are among the names Oklahoma can be called. Many query of why the state is called the Pokes, especially in the field of sports. The Pokes, is the short form of the word cowpokes. Oklahoma State University is steeped in agriculture tradition so it was just natural that the official battle cry be “Go Pokes”. So yell it loud and proud…...

Red fern

The Red Fern and Tahlequah are synonymous. They are inseparable since 1961 when Wilson Rawls wrote a book about a boy, his coonhounds, and the Ozark Hills. The truth is The Red Fern is a myth, but we here in Tahlequah choose to believe in an Indian story about a truly amazing plant called the Red Fern. The wise Native tells of how a little Indian Boy and Girl were lost in a blizzard and had frozen to death. In the spring, when their bodies were found a beautiful Red Fern had grown up between their two bodies. The story went on to say that only an angel could plant the seed of the Red Fern, and when planted the seed would never die and the site would always be sacred.

Please enjoy The Red Fern Blend and choose to believe.

Spring Creek

Spring Creek - If you grew up in Cherokee County, Oklahoma you more than likely swam in Spring Creek to cool off from the summer heat. Spring Creek is still cold and pure today.

Our Spring Creek Blend is Decaffeinated with pure spring water. No chemicals are used in the decaffeinating process.

We take pride in bringing the Spring Creek Blend to you as a great Decaffeinated blend that still has that robust coffee taste that we all enjoy.

Espro Yo

“Espro Yo” Catchy name, right.

This is our very own brain child. Espresso is an adjective, not a noun. Espro Yo is a very unique Espresso blend. You will not find it anywhere else on the planet. We describe it as an Energizing Espresso Blend, because it has been known to keep those who drink it awake and alert for days. Please drink frequently and through caution to the wind. Live, Love, and be passionate about your Coffee. The essential conditions of everything you do must be choice, love, and passion. Please choose Rose Rock Coffee, Love “Espro Yo”, and be passionate about our coffee.

Peace Out….

Scissor-tail

Scissor-tail – a beautiful blend from Myanmar (Burma) and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe.

Oklahoma adopted the Scissor-tail Bird as it’s State Bird in 1951. It is a marvelous site to see while in flight. The Scissor-tail’s distinct two long tail-feathers make this bird instantly identifiable and we are proud to use it’s name to set this blend aside as instantly identifiable.

These two Coffee’s bring together a light roast blend that shows off the earthy wine acidity from the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe region and the roasted butter nut notes from the coffee of Myanmar.

We are proud to bring you this award winning blend.

Black Velvet

Black Velvet – We created this blend for all the people who like the Grrrrrrrr in their Coffee.  The primary bean in this blend is from Brazil.

Brazil produces most of the worlds coffee but if brewed alone you get a very bitter cup of Joe.  I have blended this with Costa Rican and Guatemalan for balance.

The experience of drinking this coffee starts off bitter and spicy and finishes smokey and smooth.

Blond Nightingale

Blond Nightingale – Why, you might ask? Because, she said so… We were asked to create a light roast coffee blend. At that moment I was listening to some old Wanda Jackson music from the 50’s. In the music business a Nightingale is the artist who sings like a song bird. The Nightingale bird is said to be able to sing a light song that will carry away all the worries of life. This is a lightly roasted Breakfast Blend that we have put together with hand selected beans. Please enjoy this beautiful Blond cup of heaven that will carry you away to a better place.

Chocolate Gravy

Chocolate Gravy – A Dark Roast Breakfast Blend, need we say more?  If you call yourself a Sooner then you have enjoyed Chocolate Gravy and Cat Head Biscuits, with salt meat and eggs cooked over easy-extra runny.  My good friend Kenneth Shankle loved breakfast, no matter what time of day it happened to be when he got hungry. We created this blend in his honor.  This is a classic Dark Roast Breakfast Blend.  Breakfast should be the best meal of your day, no matter what time of day you enjoy it.  Begin every day with our “Chocolate Gravy”, it will put a smile on your face.

Thank you Kenneth for all the great times we had.  You still inspire us everyday...

Gaucho

Gaucho – Cowboys from Oklahoma and the world over wake up and drink dark, bold coffee. In Columbia the common cowboy is called a Gaucho. To celebrate all cowboys, we created a three bean coffee blend with Colombian being the primary bean (Because a Cowboy always has two side kicks). It is blended with Costa Rican and Guatemalan. This blend produces a robust coffee flavor and brings together the strong caramel sweetness and nutty undertones of the Colombian with the wine acidity, chocolate, almonds, citrus notes of the Costa Rican. The Guatemalan lends its spicy velvety undertones.
